Anyone who works directly with blind and visually impaired individuals in a school, work or community setting, whether as a paid employee or a volunteer, may apply. Students currently enrolled in a college or university program and preparing for a career in the blindness field may apply for enrollment in an HSPS course.
As Hadley's courses are offered worldwide, it is important to note that students must read and understand courses written in English.
Hadley's distance education programs meet the needs of busy adults. With distance education, you can work in the comfort of your own home or office, avoid travel concerns and schedule study time when it best suits your learning needs and life's demands. Distance education is considered by many to be a cost-effective way to learn.
Yes. In fact, most of the courses offered in the Professional Studies program are available online. Alternate media are available for selected courses.
Email submission of assignments directly to your instructor is encouraged and expedites the turnaround time for assignment feedback.
The time it takes to complete a course depends upon the course length and the determination of the student. Most courses offered in this program are between six and 10 lessons in length, although some courses have as few as one lesson and the longest course has 27 lessons.
Students taking an HSPS course are expected to submit at least two assignments per month.
Continuing Education Unit (CEU) credit is offered. One CEU is generally defined as 10 hours of successful participation in an organized continuing education program under responsible direction and qualified instruction.
Approval and acceptance of CEUs is at the discretion of your professional certification body, education agency, employer or entity that recognizes professional development.
Seminars@Hadley, in some cases, offer a Continuing Education Hour to professionals. Refer to the Past Seminars page for additional information.
Hadley does not offer college credit for courses; however, we do partner with institutions of higher learning that incorporate selected Hadley courses into their curriculum. Enrollment through the university is required. Contact Student Services for details.
Hadley currently has a collaboration with Utah State University, which offers a series of courses of interest to individuals working with school-age children who are blind or visually impaired. For additional information, visit the Hadley-Utah program page.
HSPS course fees range from $99 to $139. Some HSPS courses remain free of charge.
No. Hadley provides textbooks and study materials. The student is responsible for equipment and supplies needed to prepare and submit assignments, such as paper, envelopes, computers and access technology, if needed.
