Course ID: MTH-201
Audience
Adult Continuing Education and High School Programs
Course Description
People use math every day, often without even realizing it. Determining how much liquid a pitcher will hold, figuring out sales tax, and calculating a tip all involve math skills. Occupations ranging from sales to sociology use mathematics, and so do leisure time activities such as music, art, and sports. This course builds on the math knowledge that the student already has. The lessons examine decimals, percents, and both customary and metric measurement. They also introduce ratios and proportions. Moreover, throughout the course, the student has opportunities to apply these topics to real-life situations. The goal of this course is to help the student to continue developing the math skills needed for daily living and further studies.
